The Grand Manan community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Sidney Lea Urquhart, whose sudden passing alongside her beloved boyfriend, Hunter Green, on Saturday, July 18, 2026, has left family, friends, and loved ones devastated. Sidney’s life, though tragically cut short, was filled with creativity, compassion, laughter, and meaningful connections that will continue to inspire everyone who knew her.
Born on July 19, 2007, in Saint John, New Brunswick, Sidney was the cherished daughter of Gary Urquhart (Gail) and Tracy Foster (Carter). From a young age, she brought energy, warmth, and happiness into the lives of those around her. Her family remembers her as a vibrant young woman whose presence could brighten any room and whose genuine kindness made people feel valued and accepted.
A Bright Spirit Who Loved Life
Sidney was known for her unforgettable personality, creative passion, and adventurous heart. She embraced life with enthusiasm and authenticity, finding beauty in music, fashion, art, and the simple moments shared with family and friends.
Growing up on Grand Manan Island, Sidney developed deep friendships within the close-knit community that surrounded her. Those relationships became an important part of her life, and she treasured the bonds she formed with classmates, teammates, neighbors, and loved ones.
During her years at Grand Manan Community School, Sidney enjoyed being involved in sports, especially basketball and volleyball. She loved traveling with her teams, competing alongside friends, and creating memories with coaches and teammates that would last a lifetime.
A Passion for Beauty and Creativity
After graduating, Sidney followed her creative dreams by attending Infinite Beauty Academy, where she studied cosmetology. Her artistic talents flourished as she explored new styles, techniques, and colorful hair designs.
Family members fondly remember how Sidney often used her creativity on those closest to her, turning loved ones into willing participants in her beauty experiments. Her passion for self-expression reflected the imagination and confidence that made her unique.
Beyond her talents, Sidney’s greatest gift was the way she made others feel. Her humor, kindness, and caring nature allowed her to connect easily with people from all walks of life. She had a special ability to bring laughter and comfort to those around her.

Family and Funeral Arrangements
Sidney Lea Urquhart is survived by her parents, Gary Urquhart (Gail) and Tracy Foster (Carter); her sister, Taylar Urquhart (Graeme); her step-brothers, Colton (Emily) Jardine, Nick (Coreena-Jo) Jardine, Justin Gillespie, and Ryder Foster; her grandparents, Mike and Mary Caldwell, and Larry and Bertha Urquhart; along with her aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, extended family members, and many friends who loved her dearly.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 23, 2026, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
A celebration of Sidney’s life will take place at Lighthouse Church on Friday, July 24, 2026, at 1:00 p.m., followed by burial at Maple Grove Cemetery.
Those wishing to honor Sidney’s memory may make donations to the Canadian Mental Health Association – New Brunswick or the Saint John Regional Hospital Foundation’s Mental Health Fund.
