Kevin and Jenny O’Leary of Souderton, Pennsylvania, are being remembered not only as devoted parents but as the unwavering foundation behind the remarkable journey of their son, Liam O’Leary. Although both passed away before witnessing Liam achieve his dream of being selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the Major League Baseball Draft, their love, encouragement, and sacrifices remain woven into every milestone of his career.

For Liam, baseball was never simply a game. It became a lifelong connection to his family, particularly to his father, Kevin, who introduced him to the sport from an early age. Kevin was more than a parent—he was Liam’s first coach, biggest supporter, and closest friend. Countless hours spent practicing together helped build not only Liam’s pitching ability but also the work ethic and determination that would eventually carry him to collegiate success and professional baseball.

One of Liam’s most treasured childhood memories involved a simple tradition before every major tournament. Kevin would stop at Wawa to buy his son a breakfast sandwich and draw a smiley face on the wrapper with ketchup—a small gesture that calmed pregame nerves and reminded Liam that his father believed in him no matter the outcome.

In 2022, tragedy struck when Kevin passed away unexpectedly during Liam’s senior year at Souderton Area High School. The loss was devastating, leaving Liam uncertain whether he wanted to continue playing the sport that had always connected him to his father. Encouraged by family and loved ones, he ultimately returned to the mound, determined to honor his father’s memory with every pitch.

Following Kevin’s passing, Liam’s mother, Jenny O’Leary, became the family’s source of strength and stability. She devoted herself to supporting Liam and his siblings while helping them navigate an unimaginable period of grief. Her love, resilience, and unwavering encouragement kept the family united through one of the most difficult chapters of their lives.

Heartbreak returned in 2024 when Jenny also passed away, leaving behind her four children—Shanleigh, Liam, Finn, and Nolan. Despite enduring the loss of both parents within two years, the O’Leary siblings remained deeply connected, drawing strength from one another while carrying forward the values Kevin and Jenny had instilled in them.

As the eldest sibling, Shanleigh became an important source of encouragement, helping preserve family traditions and inspiring Liam to continue pursuing his baseball dream. Meanwhile, younger brothers Finn and Nolan continue developing their own passion for baseball, looking up to their older brother while creating memories that reflect the family’s enduring love for the game.

Liam transformed unimaginable personal loss into remarkable perseverance. His baseball journey led him from Montgomery County Community College to Lackawanna College, where he recorded an outstanding 121 strikeouts in a single season, before continuing at St. John’s University. There, he emerged as one of the program’s top pitchers and helped lead the team to an NCAA Super Regional appearance.

When the Pittsburgh Pirates selected Liam in the MLB Draft, it marked the realization of a dream that had begun years earlier in neighborhood ballparks under his father’s guidance and continued through the unwavering support of his mother.

Although Kevin and Jenny were not physically present to witness that unforgettable moment, those closest to the family believe their influence was evident throughout Liam’s journey. The determination, humility, resilience, and character he displays both on and off the field stand as lasting reflections of the parents who raised him.

Kevin and Jenny O’Leary leave behind a legacy defined by unconditional love, devoted parenthood, and the lasting impact they made on their children. Their memory lives on through Liam’s achievements, the strength of their family, and the countless lives they touched throughout the Souderton community.
