The Amarillo, Texas, community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Tyler Cochran, a proud United States Marine Corps veteran, devoted husband and father, and respected Pantex Plant employee who died following a shooting on Sunday, July 12, 2026. His passing has left family, friends, fellow Marines, coworkers, and classmates grieving the loss of a man whose life was defined by service, integrity, and selflessness.
Tyler’s death has prompted an outpouring of tributes from those who knew him best. Remembered for his unwavering dedication to his loved ones and his willingness to help others without hesitation, he leaves behind a legacy of courage and compassion that will not be forgotten.
Born with a strong sense of duty, Tyler proudly served in the United States Marine Corps, where he embraced the values of honor, courage, and commitment. His military service shaped the character that so many admired throughout his life. Even after returning to civilian life, he carried the Marine Corps spirit with him, approaching every responsibility with discipline, resilience, and humility while maintaining lifelong bonds with fellow veterans.
Following his military service, Tyler built a respected career at the Pantex Plant in Amarillo, where he was known as a dependable employee and valued teammate. His professionalism, attention to detail, and strong work ethic earned the respect of colleagues who appreciated both his reliability and his willingness to support those around him.
Driven by a desire to continue serving others, Tyler was also pursuing a career in healthcare. As a nursing student at Amarillo College, he was working toward becoming a Registered Nurse, inspired by a genuine passion for caring for people during their most difficult moments. Friends and classmates admired his determination and believed he would have made an exceptional healthcare professional.
While Tyler took great pride in his military and professional accomplishments, those closest to him say his greatest joy came from his family. He shared a loving marriage with his wife, Becca Alden Cochran, and was a devoted father who worked tirelessly to provide a bright future for his children. His family remembers him as a constant source of strength, encouragement, and unconditional love.
In a moving tribute, Becca reflected on the man behind the uniform, describing Tyler as a loving husband whose strength, discipline, and selflessness defined every aspect of his life. She expressed gratitude for the years they shared together and the memories that will remain with her forever, honoring both his service and the deep love he showed his family each day.
Tyler is survived by his devoted wife, Becca Alden Cochran; his beloved children; extended family members; fellow Marines; coworkers at the Pantex Plant; classmates at Amarillo College; and countless friends whose lives were enriched by his kindness and generosity.
Funeral and memorial service arrangements, including military honors, are being finalized and will be announced by the Cochran family. In keeping with Tyler’s lifelong commitment to serving others, the family has suggested that memorial contributions be made to local veterans’ organizations or nursing scholarship programs at Amarillo College in lieu of flowers.
