The Collierville, Tennessee, community is mourning the passing of Warlean Williams, a beloved mother, devoted Christian, and longtime caregiver whose life reflected unwavering faith, compassion, and dedication to serving others. She passed away peacefully at her home in Collierville on Tuesday, July 7, 2026, surrounded by the love and memories of a family she faithfully nurtured throughout her life.
Born on July 26, 1938, in Byhalia, Mississippi, Warlean was the cherished daughter of the late Walter and Sarah Jones. From an early age, she embraced a deep Christian faith that would guide every chapter of her life. She began her spiritual journey as a member of Shiloh Baptist Church in Byhalia before later joining Morning View Baptist Church in Arlington, Tennessee, where she faithfully worshipped under the leadership of the late Rev. E.D. Price.
Faith remained the cornerstone of Warlean’s life. She was known for her gentle spirit, unwavering trust in God, and willingness to encourage those around her through both joyful and difficult seasons. Family and friends admired her quiet strength, wisdom, and steadfast commitment to living a life rooted in love and service.
Warlean shared a loving marriage with her late husband, Herbart Williams Sr. Together they built a close-knit family and were blessed with ten children. As a wife and mother, she devoted herself wholeheartedly to providing a nurturing home where faith, respect, and compassion were instilled in every generation.
Beyond her family responsibilities, Warlean dedicated many years to caring for others as a Certified Nursing Assistant. Working in healthcare facilities throughout the region, she earned the admiration of patients, coworkers, and families alike for her patience, kindness, and genuine concern for those entrusted to her care. Whether offering comfort during illness or simply sharing words of encouragement, she approached every individual with dignity and compassion.
Following years of faithful service, Warlean retired, leaving behind a professional legacy defined by dedication, humility, and heartfelt care for others. Even in retirement, she remained devoted to her family, church, and community, always placing the needs of others before her own.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Herbart Williams Sr.; her children, Herbart Williams Jr., Jessie Williams, Michael Williams, and Mary Walker Nolen; and her parents, Walter and Sarah Jones.
Warlean’s memory will be lovingly cherished by her surviving children: J.B. Williams (Barbara) of Memphis, Wayne Williams of Collierville, Cassie Smith of Memphis, Debbie Burks of Byhalia, Mississippi, Barbara Williams of Collierville, and Patricia Williams of Memphis. She also leaves behind her siblings, Rufus Jones of Moscow, Tennessee, Willie Jones (Wanda), Charlie Jones of Memphis, and Emma Lou Hearns of Detroit, Michigan.
Her remarkable legacy extends through an extraordinary family that includes 42 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, along with many nieces, nephews, extended relatives, church family, and countless friends whose lives were enriched by her love and guidance.
Family and friends will gather to celebrate Warlean Williams’ life during services at Morning View Baptist Church in Arlington, Tennessee. Visitation will be held on Friday, July 24, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at H.C. Jett-H.C. Ford Funeral Home in Collierville. Funeral services will take place on Saturday, July 25, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., officiated by Rev. Albert Brown III. She will be laid to rest at Farewell Cemetery in Fayette County, Tennessee.
Warlean Williams will be remembered as a woman whose faith shaped her character, whose love strengthened her family, and whose compassion touched countless lives. Her example of kindness, perseverance, and selfless service will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her.
