Sam attended Georgetown Preparatory School in North Bethesda, where he distinguished himself as both an exceptional student and athlete. Throughout his time at the school, he competed in varsity wrestling while becoming one of the most respected members of the Georgetown Prep Rugby program.
After four years of dedication, perseverance, and outstanding sportsmanship, Sam earned the honor of serving as captain of the rugby team during his senior season. Coaches and teammates admired his ability to inspire those around him, lead by example, and embody the school’s values of integrity, service, and respect.
His talent also earned him opportunities to compete with elite rugby development programs, including Minuteman RFC 7s and Next Phase 7s, where he showcased his athletic ability and passion for the sport against top competition.
Continuing His Journey at the University of Louisville
Following his graduation in 2024, Sam continued both his education and rugby career at the University of Louisville.
He quickly became a valued member of the Cardinals rugby program, earning the admiration of teammates through his commitment, determination, and genuine concern for others. Those who played alongside him remember someone who celebrated the success of his teammates, encouraged others during difficult moments, and helped foster a welcoming environment within the program.
The University of Louisville Rugby Club shared a heartfelt tribute following his passing, remembering Sam as much more than an outstanding athlete. The organization described him as a loyal friend whose kindness, humility, and character left a lasting impression on everyone fortunate enough to know him.
